Easter eggs and Opportunities

by Shawn Steiner on April 16, 2019

As a child, it was always disconcerting to me that some man-sized rabbit would breech the security of our home while we slept. Should we be upgrading the security system? I mean, this has been happening for years, and this creature hides baskets of chocolate, neatly arranged on shredded plastic grass. Why is he even hiding it... is it some sort of cruel joke? It's gotta be easier to sign up for a monthly Easter basket subscription service somewhere (if they make those, please email me).

Anyways, I digress. I am not sure how you celebrate Easter. At the end of the day, that's up to you. Every family has its unique traditions. The synchronized church attire, basket of goodies, Easter egg dyeing and hunts, and traveling to see loved ones can all lead to some amazing memories (both good and bad).

What I do know though, is that all of the anticipation and excitement of the day creates opportunities.

This Sunday at MCC, we are excited that we have an opportunity for our children grades Kindergarten and up to be in the service with their families. They will have a kid's note sheet in order to follow along in the sermon with us. What we do have this weekend is an opportunity to fix our attention on Jesus! Together, we can hear the hope of the good news of Jesus death, resurrection, and return! All of the fun and excitement can be leveraged towards conversations about our risen Lord. So, how will you prepare leading up to the Easter service, and what conversations will you have afterwards? Praying you have many opportunities this Easter to share the hope that you have in Christ.
