Growing Deeper as We Grow Smaller
Acts 1: 12-26

Truths:

1. Disciple-making is the result of obedience (vs. 12) 
2. Disciple-making is based on the trust of Scriptures (vs. 16)  
3. Disciple-making is grounded in prayer (vs. 14, 24)  
4. Disciple-making begins with being a disciple of Christ (vs. 21-22)   5. Disciple-making takes time (vs. 21-22)

Applications:
1. We are called to move from the crowd to the core:

Hebrews 6:1

Community
Core  

2. Pray for God to reveal where we are in the process  

3. Pray for God to send us people to disciple

1. Read Acts 1:12-26 and discuss the sermon with someone.
2. What principles of disciple making do you notice in this passage?
3. When you examine your life, are you part of the crowd, church,
    community or core? Why?
4. What is the next step you could take to grow in Christ as His disciple?
5. Read Matthew 9:37-38 and take some time to pray together that God
    would raise up laborers into the harvest.

 

# 2 - Preparing for Next Sunday
Our Purpose and Pathway: Loving God, Loving Others and Making Disciples
Matthew 22:34-37 and Matthew 28:18-20

1. READ- Read Matthew 22: 34-37 and Matthew 28: 18-20 several times
    and ask the Lord to reveal Himself and His truth to you.
2. EXAMINE- Spend some time marking up your Bible. Ask questions like:
    What is the meaning of the passage, the main thoughts or points?
3. APPLY- Apply the text to your own life. Ask these type of questions:
      ~What does this text tell me about God?
      ~What does this text tell me about myself?
      ~How will I live differently because of what I just read? 
      ~Is there a command for me to obey, a warning to observe, a sin I must
        repent of, or something that leads me to give thanks?

4. PRAY- Pray through the passage and your application. Ask God to lead
    you to love Him, love others and to be intentional about making disciples
    by the power of the Holy Spirit.
