Repentant faith is a gift from God that leads to a turning from sin and self-reliance to trusting in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Acts 20:20-21 – “(we were) ….teaching you publicly and from house to house, solemnly testifying ….repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Romans 10:9 – “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Matthew 22:37 – “Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart…soul, and… mind and love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Colossians 2:6 – “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him.”

1 Peter 3:15 – “Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.”

I. House builders
     1. Both heard “truth.”
     2. Both confessed “faith.”
     3. Only one was living in repentant faith in Christ.
     4. Only one will endure the storms of life and the final storm of
         God.

II. Application

     1. Encourage each other to repent and believe.

2 Corinthians 7:9-10 – “I now rejoice…that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, so that you might not suffer loss in anything through us.  For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.”

     2. Encourage each other to proclaim Jesus as Lord.

2 Corinthians 4:5 – “For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake.”

     3. Encourage each other there is an assessment coming.

2 Corinthians 5:9-10 – “Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”

#1- Reviewing This Past Sunday
Called Together: Living The Gospel in Repentant Faith
Luke 6:39-49

1. Read Luke 6:43-49. Discuss Sunday’s message with someone.
2. Do you confess and repent of sins easily, truthfully, and
confidently? (Confidently means you can be honest about your
sins and failures with God and others because you know God
    approves of you through Christ.)
3. Have you lately felt like you had to perform for God or
someone in order to be accepted? Explain why and what was
    the result.
4. Why is it important in missional living that we each commit to
assist one another in turning away from sin (repenting) and
also trusting in Christ and His promises?
5. Read 1 John 1:9, and use it as a prayer.

# 2- Preparing for Next Sunday
