I. Faith Defined (Hebrews 11:1-2)

II. Faith Found in the Flawed (Heb. 11:3-40)

1. The mustard seed principle. (Matthew 17:20)

2. Faith is given to us.(Romans 12:3-8)

3. Faith Observed.

“That’s why one of the things we must do as preachers, both for ourselves and also for our people, is to lift our eyes from our current moment, to listen to the words of the psalmist, hear the laments of the prophets, recall the stories of our ancestors, visit our church fathers, read and learn from our missionary mothers, and realize that spiritual struggle is the norm, not the exception.”

III. Enduring in Faith (Hebrews 12:1-2)

2 Corinthians 4:8-12

1. From beginning to end.

Ephesians 2:8-10 - “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

2. Faith is for the lost. (Matthew 5:16)

 

Discussion Questions for the week

1. What person or stories do you look to in history that encourage you in your faith?

2. Read Ephesians 2:8-10 with someone. Discuss a time in your life when you realized that faith is a gift from God.

3. Pray for someone this week that is lost, that God would graciously give them faith to believe in Christ.
