Monday

Please review last week’s passage and discuss the message with someone. Read Mark 8:14-21. What two miraculous “memorial stones” does Jesus point to in these verses? Looking at the questions Jesus asks the disciples, what are some of the reasons that people can fail to remember great acts of God in their lives? Have any of those reasons been true for you? What do you think causes these things in our hearts?

Tuesday

Read Deuteronomy 4:32-39. After Moses commands the people to remember specific things, what does he say was God’s main purpose for intervening in their lives (v. 35)? If all of our memorial stones caused us to believe this, how would it effect how we live? our worry and fear? our witness? our difficult circumstances? How do we then obey the command of verse 39 in comparison to Romans 8:5?

Wednesday:

Read this week’s Transformation Scripture & use it as a prayer guide- “Blessed are the merciful for they shall receive mercy.”  Matthew 5:7.  What does it mean to be merciful?  Give an example of a time you have experienced, seen, or given mercy.  The promise is that the merciful receive mercy, who gives this mercy and why is this important? (Cross References – Luke 6:36; Proverbs 19:17)

Thursday:

As you prepare for this Celebration Sunday, read Psalm 67.  Who does the psalmist desire to see sing praises?  What does this show about God’s character?  What do you think about the statement “The goal of missions is worship”? (Cross Reference Psalm 22:27)

Friday:

Read James 5:13b. “Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.”  When do you find yourself singing?  Why do you sing at those times?  Do you ever sing when you are happy?  What is the most enjoyable thing in your life?  Has Christ given you a reason to sing? (Cross Reference Colossians 3:16)

Saturday:

Preparing for Celebration Sunday, pray that the Lord will encourage your heart and give you a passion to declare His glory in praise.  Pray for your hearts to be overwhelmed with joy because of the hope of your salvation in Jesus Christ.  Pray that as a church we understand that the goal of our lives and the mission of the church is for people to praise God.
