Being the Church in our
Generation – Godly Leadership

                                                         Acts 2:42-47

The local church is to be known as:

I.       An assembly of true disciples

II.      Being Joyfully tenacious in evangelism

III.     Believers walking in Love & holiness

IV.     Having Christ-like leaders

    Acts 6:1-7

    Acts 14:19-23

    Acts 20:17-24

Two General Truths:

1. Every church needs Spirit-filled, gifted, broken, equipped servant-leaders who oversee the welfare of the church for God’s glory & other’s good.

2. Oswald Chambers - “We are to be completely & entirely identified with God’s interests in others’
lives

Biblical principles on Leadership:

1. 2 Timothy 2:1-7                     Page#1191

~ Believers (especially men), are to be people of grace & show themselves faithful by being spiritual reproducers.

2. 1 Timothy 3:1-7

~ Believers (especially men), must be above reproach with their lifestyle.

3. 1 Timothy 3:2

~ Believers (especially men), must be willing to become skilled in teaching the Gospel.

4. 1 Timothy 5:17-18

~ Believers (especially men), must be willing to highly value, encourage & support Godly leadership.

5. 1 Timothy 5:19-20

~Believers (especially men), must be willing to sharpen, lovingly confront & faithfully oppose sinful
attitudes & behavior
that do not match our calling in ourselves & others.

A.W. Tozer said“The meek man is not a human mouse afflicted with a sense of his own
inferiority. Rather he may be in his moral life as bold as a lion and as strong
as Samson; but he has stopped being fooled about himself. He has accepted God’s
estimate of his own life. He knows he is as weak and helpless as God has
declared him to be, but paradoxically, he knows at the same time that he is in
the sight of God of more importance than angels. In himself, nothing; in God,
everything. That is his motto.”
