A New President, A Real Resurrection and the Same Calling

Posted by Todd Cyphers on

Today we have the 45th President of the USA, Donald J. Trump. Today we have the same calling as followers of Christ: to pray and honor our leader that God has caused and or allowed to be over us. One person called it a resurrection of freedom.

What is our main calling as followers of the resurrected Christ?  1 Timothy 2:1-4 – “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

First, let’s pray that Donald Trump will come to know the historical resurrected Jesus and His truth and not the “Christianity” that he champions. A human brand of “Christianity” in which you do not have to repent, pray, or ask God into your daily life. One in which you “try and make it right”.  Moderator Frank Luntz asked Donald Trump whether he has ever asked God for forgiveness for his actions. Mr. Trump’s response; "I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don't think so. I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don't bring God into that picture. I don't."

Let’s pray for Him to know and enjoy the resurrected Christ and walk in His truth.

Second, we are to pray for ourselves and our country to live in peace and holiness. We need peace in this divided country, real peace that comes for the Lord and not from man. We need true holiness, ever more becoming like the Lord. In other words, we need people to be Christ-like more than we need to experience human greatness. Someone recently told me; “When Sampson is your hero, you are in trouble.” We don’t need great men and women, we need men and women who know a great God and walk in His holiness.

Finally, let’s pray for the salvation of the nations. God “wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”  Let’s remember that true prayer is the catalyst for the Gospel of the resurrected Christ to be lived and shared. The Gospel of the resurrected Christ is our main message and this Gospel is not about a political revolution. It is a revolution that eventually overthrows all the enemies of God, all strongholds of individuals and families and a Gospel that sets people free from sin and self.

PS- If Hillary Clinton would have won, we would still have the same calling.

Please remember people of God, the world can do without Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton being in office, but it cannot make it without God’s people exalting the resurrected Christ.  All of God’s promises come through One and One alone. God’s promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say, "and to seeds," meaning many, but "and to your seed," (Galatians 3:16) meaning One, who is Christ.

We proclaim the real resurrection, we pray, and by His grace we live in a way that reveals Christ Jesus is worthy to follow. What a great calling!

In His Grace,
Todd
