I Cannot Believe He Was Picked to be Our Leader

That was the prevailing thought about David. He wasn’t big and impressive. He was the runt of the litter. He was not even the people’s choice. The prophet Saul stopped at David after he had reviewed all the older and more impressive brothers and said, “He is God’s choice.”

 

God is the one who told him to pick David and also said, “…the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

 

How will we know what type of leader Joe Biden is while he is president? By watching the fruit of his life: his words and lifestyle. Our calling is to pray for him and other leaders while being godly citizens. A leader’s fruit will always be made evident over time.

 

Let’s turn it around. How will people know that we are God’s chosen people to be His witnesses to the world? Our godly fruit - words and lifestyles that point others to Him.

 

Jesus said, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

 

Prayer: Father God, keep transforming us into people whose words and lives make much of who You are. Holy Spirit, empower us to live in such a way that people will come to faith in the resurrected Jesus no matter what happens this year or what other’s do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
