Acts 17:16-34

I. Our message is to proclaim Jesus as the risen Lord.

Romans 14:9 – “For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.”

II. Missional living is an attitude and a lifestyle.

1 Cor 9:19-23 – “Though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more. To the Jews I became as a Jew…to those who are without law…so that I might win those who are without law.  To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some. I do all things for the sake of the gospel...”

III. Missional living guarantees that God will bear fruit in and through us for
     His glory.

John 15:16 – “You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.”

~ Missional living is for the whole church, therefore, we proclaim Jesus as
Lord together in our homes and community.

#1- Reviewing this Past Sunday
Being on Mission Together
Acts 17:16-34

1. Read Acts 17:16-34. Discuss Sunday’s message with someone.
2. What “group of people” is God calling you, your family, and your
community group to be engaged with to declare the Gospel?
3. What are their “values”? (What is most important to them?)
4. How would the “Gospel” be Good News to them? (How is the Gospel
better than what they value now?)
5. What are their “needs”, and how does the Lord Jesus meet those needs?
How can we be part of meeting those needs?
6. How can we reorient our lives to impact others with the Gospel?

# 2- Preparing for Next Sunday
Joyful are the Humbled
Matthew 5:1-3

1. Read Matthew 5:1-3. Notice that a crowd surrounded Jesus. What did
they see in Him? (Matthew 7:29, 11:29, 12:20-21)
2. “He sat down to teach them” was common for Rabbis of His day. It meant
it was time to be relationally equipped. Who was His focus and why?
    (Matthew 5:1 and    2 Timothy 2:1-2)
3. What is a major difference between those who have been humbled and
broken of self-reliance and those who are still trying to do life in their own
    wisdom and strength? (Proverbs 9:8-9)
4. How does one walk in humility daily in order to follow the Lord and His
    teachings? (Galatians 2:20)
5. Why are humbled people able to walk in joy? (Psalm 43:4)
