I. God Reveals Controlling Idols. (Exodus 7:14-23)
Exodus 12:12 – “…and on the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord.”

- Money (Matthew 19:21-22)
- Pride (Isaiah 2:11)
- Lust (Matthew 5:27-28)
- Physical Idols (Exodus 20:3-4)
- Entertainment (Colossians 3:17)
- Hatred and Bitterness (Ephesians 4:26)
- Fear and Worry (Philippians 4:6)
II. God Destroys False Idols. (Exodus 7:12)
Exodus 7:12 – “For each man cast down his staff, and they became serpents. Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.”
Colossians 3:1-2 – “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things on the earth.”
III. God Frees us from Idols by Giving Himself. (Exodus 7:17)
Exodus 7:17 – “By this you shall know that I am Lord.”
Exodus 5:2 – “But Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice…..?”
Exodus 9:14 – “For this time I will send all my plagues on you yourself, and on your servants and your people, so that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth.”

- What are some ways God’s people question who God is and His authority over them?
- What are some lies and false beliefs present in our culture today?
- What do you believe was an important lesson about God that He wanted those in our narrative to know about Him? What stood out to you about God’s grace with Pharaoh? (Exodus 7:4-5; 16-17; 8:7-10; 9:25-27; 10:14-17)
- Of the 7 heart idols mentioned in the message, what one or more were revealed in your heart that needs destroyed through repentance? Ask someone who knows you if they agree.
- Read Exodus 10:1-2. The LORD told Moses to tell his children and grandchildren what God had done to the Egyptians “that you may know that I am the LORD.” Discuss why that’s important to our families.
