Exodus 13

5-17-20

I. Becoming Free in Daily Life is not a Straight Line. (Exodus 13:17)

II. God Given Detours Strengthen our Freedom. (Exodus 13:17-18)

“Wilderness Experiences” – Desolate places God orchestrates for us to experience Godly brokenness and a deeper walk with God

2 Corinthians 1:9 – “…(our trouble) was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.”

III. God’s Manifest Presence Moves us to Greater Freedom. (Exodus 13:19-14:14)

Psalm 119:25 – “My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word!”

Psalm 80:18 – “Then we shall not turn back from you; give us life, and we will call upon your name!”

Psalm 85:6 – “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?”

Mark 3:27 – “Jesus said, ‘No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house.’” 

Monthly Transformation Verse: John 8:36 - “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

Weekly Transformation Verse: 2 Corinthians 9:8 – “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”

1. Why are we captivated by stories of escape or of people overcoming great odds? Describe an amazing earthly rescue you have witnessed? How did it impact you?
2. What stood out to you from Exodus 13:17-22 about God? Yourself? Ministry to others in this season?
3. Is God’s presence more tangible to you during this season or more difficult to enjoy? Explain.
4. What can we learn of God’s heart for His people in HOW and WHERE He guided them as they left Egypt from their bondage? 

5. What are some ways we can be more in tune with God’s guidance and presence in our Scripture reading? (Example- Read 10 minutes and mediate and pray on it for 10 minutes this week) 

6. Read these accounts of God’s manifest presence and see what the results were and pray for His presence. Exodus 3:1-6, Daniel 3:24-25, Acts 2:1-4, John 1:14
