Nehemiah 8:1-18

Main idea:Trusting in God’s Word is essential in discipling others to Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples.
Jesus’ Model: Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples
Mark 3:13-15 - “…be with Me…"
John 1:39 - “Come and …see.”
Matthew 4:19 - “…follow Me… and fish for people.”
I. God’s Word is to Be Greatly Respected. (Nehemiah 8:1-6)
“Amen”- Let it be true with us.
“Lifting up Hands” - Sign of praise and worship.
“Bowed Their Heads” - Sign of reverence and honor.
“Worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground” - Complete devotion and surrender to the Lord.
II. God’s Word is to Be Intentionally Taught. (Nehemiah 8:7-8, 12)

III. God’s Word is to be Lived Out. (Nehemiah 8:13-15)
1. How will we read God’s word in our home?
2. When will we read God’s word in our home?
3. Why will we read God’s word in our home? (Love God, Love Others and Make Disciples)

1. What are you most thankful for this week?
2. Share a time when Scripture finally came alive to you. It may have been on a retreat or through someone’s teaching. “Aha! Moments”
3. Why is it important for believers and families to read their Bibles daily? (John 5:39, 14:15, 15:7-8, 11, Romans 12:1-2 and Psalm 37:4)
4. What internet or other tools do you use to effectively study the Bible? (View Biblehub.com and ESV Bible App)
5. Do you think teaching is simply a spiritual gift, or is it also a skill that can be learned, or both? When will you be ready to teach children on Sunday morning or adults during the week?
