Reviewing This Past Sunday
God Delivers: The Redeemer Sees and Acts
Exodus 2:23-3:22
1. How would the slavery of the Israelites have affected their view of God’s covenant promise to greatly bless them?
2. Sinful, evil deeds often remain hidden in the world and in our lives. How does it comfort you to know God sees every sinful deed done against you? How does it challenge you to know that God sees every sinful deed you have done against Him and others?
3. What is the difference between being “afraid of God” and being “terrified and in awe” of God?
4. How does it encourage you to know that God hears and responds to the cries of the oppressed?
5. How should the cry of those enslaved to sin differ from the cry of those who have been liberated in Christ?
6. What are some areas in which you feel unqualified or unable to do what God has called you to do?
7. When we feel inadequate to obey God’s call, what are some ways we can move our eyes from the magnitude of the task to the majesty of God Himself?
8. What are the fears that most hinder you from speaking on God’s behalf? How can we overcome these fears and excuses with faith in God’s promised redemption?
Gospel Project - God responded by explaining His purpose to Moses. His purpose was to relocate His people. He would take them out of Egypt and put them in a place with milk and honey. (3:8-9) God was going to save them from something (slavery) for something (worship and witness).
Preparing for Next Sunday
God Delivers: The Redeemer Reveals His Glory
Exodus 5:1-23
1. Read the passage and ask the Lord to reveal Himself and His truth. (Exodus 5:1-23)
2. HIGHLIGHT a verse or truth that stands out to you and write it out.
3. EXPLAIN the text in your own words to make sure you see the big picture of God’s Story. (Who wrote it & why was it written? To whom it was written? What is the context? How does the text point to the Father, Son or Spirit? What is the text telling us about our new identity as believers in Christ or how we are to live?)
4. APPLY a truth from the text to your own life. (Focus on what God is saying to you and what is your act of obedience, confession, praise, giving thanks, etc.)
5. RESPOND in prayer and go apply what God reveals to you from the Scriptures.
