Prophets and Kings: A Spirit and Word Church

Ezekiel 37:1-14

I. We are dead and exiled without the Lord.    (Ezekiel 37:1-3)

Ephesians 2:1-3 - “And you were dead in the trespasses & sins in which U once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air lived in the passions of our flesh…were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.”

 1. Relationship to the world.     …following the course of this world… 

2. Relationship to the Evil One.    …prince of the power of the air

3. Relationship to self.  … lived in the passions of our flesh…

4. Relationship to the Lord.  …were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

 II. God’s Word, empowered by the Spirit, creates life out of death. (Ezekiel 37:4-14)  

John 3:7-8 – “Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.  The wind blows where it wishes… so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.

John 6:63 – “Jesus said, It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”

Ephesians 2:4-6 – “…God…because of the great love with which he loved us…when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace … raised us up with him…”

Ephesians 6:19 – “(pray) also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel.”

 Spirit and Word people:

 1. Pray in the Spirit. 

Ephesians 6:18 – “Praying at all times in the Spirit…”

2. Walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16 – “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

 3. Speak in the Spirit.

Acts 1:8 – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses…to the end of the earth.”

4. Are revived in the Spirit.

Psalm 119:107 - “I am exceedingly afflicted; Revive me, O LORD, according to Your word.”

5. Are confident in the Spirit.

Romans 8:16 – “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Faith Sheet for Friends and Family This Week

 

  1. What is the Lord communicating about Israel with a deserted valley full of bones for Ezekiel’s vision? (Genesis 6:5, Jeremiah 17:9, Ephesians 2:1-4)
  2. Why do you think Ezekiel responded the way he did to God’s question of can the dead bones live? (Ezekiel 37:1-3)
  3. Where do you most clearly see resurrection where there were once dry bones in your life? Celebrate with someone.
  4. Why is it important that Ezekiel spoke the Word of God over the dry bones before they came to life? (Ezekiel 37:4-5. See also Jeremiah 23:29, John 8:31-32, Romans 1:16, 10:5-17)
  5. How can you be revived spiritually and missionally this week? Read these scriptures to get started (Psalm 71:20, 80:18, 85:6, Psalm 119:25,37,40, 50, 88, 93, 107, 149, 154, 156, 159)
  6. What do you want to be different this year in your spiritual life? Family? Nation? Pray as God leads.
