Enjoying God's Great Banquet-Part 2

Enjoying God's Great Banquet-Part 2

August 19, 2012 | Jim Hodge
Luke 14:15-24

Monday, 8-20-12 Reflecting on Yesterday

1. Read Luke 14:15-24.  The dinner banquet represents intimacy, friendship, joy, celebration, reconciliation and more. To have all the positive qualities just mentioned, there must be reconciliation between us and God or us and others. Look up the word “reconcile”.  Why is reconciliation important for true intimacy?

2. Read Col. 1:13-22.  At what great cost were you reconciled to God?  Now read Colossians 3:12-13. How do the truths in this passage motivate you to reconcile with others?

3. What did you learn from the testimony this past Sunday about yourself?

Tuesday, 8-21-12 Reflecting on this past Sunday

1. Read Romans 12:18.  What does this verse say about the possibilities of reconciliation?  What might be your role in reconciliation with someone close to you?

2. Since reconciliation is the act of settling or restoring differences and since we are all sinners and have a past, what do you find most difficult in reconciliation? How well do you accept God’s forgiveness toward you?

Wednesday, 8-22-12 Reflecting on this upcoming Sunday

1. Read Psalm 2:8. What is God’s declaration about all the countries of the world? Now read Psalm 22:27. What is going to happen in the future? Pray for that to happen.

2. Read Psalm 96:3. What are we all commanded to do? Now read Matt. 24:14. What will happen as soon as the whole world hears the Gospel? Pray for this to happen.

Thursday, 8-23-12 Preparing for this upcoming Sunday

1. Read Mark 16:15. What “means” does God use to see people from all nations come to love Him?

2. In your own words, what is the Gospel message?

3. Read Acts 26:18 and pray for anyone you know who does not know Christ.

Friday, 8-24-12 Preparing for this upcoming Sunday

1. Read Acts 1:8. What is God’s promise concerning missions and evangelism?

2. Read Romans 11:6 and Titus 3:5. What does this truth tell you about your salvation? Why is this important to remember going into the mission field?

 Saturday, 8-24-12 Preparing for tomorrow

1. Read Phil. 4:19. It seems there is never enough money, resources or people to reach the world. What does this verse promise and how do we reconcile what we see (starvation, lack of water, lack of missionaries) with this truth? No easy answers here so dig and pray.

2. Pray for the Haiti mission team as they speak tomorrow concerning what God did in & through them.
