Matthew 22:29 - But Jesus answered and said to them, You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God.

I. No marriage in heaven

1. We are engaged to Him

2 Corinthians 11:12 - …I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin.

2. Marriage points to a greater reality

Ephesians 5:31-32 - For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.

3. Spouses are better off with Him

II. The “worthy” go to heaven

Romans 3:28 - For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

1 Corinthians 1:27-31 - God has chosen the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak of the world to shame the things which are strong…

and the base of the world and the despised God has chosen,

the (ones) that are not, so that He may nullify the (ones) that are…….

29 so that no man may boast before God…

30-31 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus… so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

III. We live forever as resurrected children

Hebrews 1:14 - Are (Angels) not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?

1 Corinthians 6:2-3 - Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world ... Do you not know that we are to judge angels? …

2 Timothy 2:11-12 - The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him
