Praise The King

Luke 19:28-40      Page #1048

I.  Jesus Created and Owns Everything

Colossians 1:16 - For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.

II.  Jesus is the Anointed One

Zechariah  9:9 - Rejoice with all your heart, people of Zion! Shout in triumph, people of Jerusalem! Look! Your King is coming to you: He is righteous and victorious. He is humble and rides on a donkey, on a colt, a young pack animal.

III.        Jesus is worthy of praise

Jonathan Edwards - . . . God is glorified not only by His glory's being
seen, but by its being rejoiced in. When those that see it delight in it, God
is more glorified than if they only see it.

1.   Comes from the Holy Spirit

Ephes. 5:18-19 - Do not get drunk with wine, for that is (wild living), but be filled with the Spirit, …singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord

2.   From the heart

Vs. 19 - "…singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord”

Psalm 100:4 - Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise…

Psalm 43:5 - Why are you downcast, O my soul?  Why so disturbed within me?

Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

3. Is "to the Lord."

Vs. 19 - …making melody with your heart to the Lord.

Vs. 20   "...always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father."

4.   Edifies one another

Vs. 19   …speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs…

5.   Goes with righteousness

Amos 5:23-24 - Take away from Me the noise of your songs; I will not even listen to the sound of your harps. But let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
