The New Covenant Feast
Luke 22:14-23

I. The Bread

1. Receive with thankfulness
2. It represents His bodily substitution and must be broken

 Isaiah 53:6 - All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us
all to fall on Him.

3. It prompts remembrance and must be digested

 John 6:35- Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life…

 II. The Cup

1. It is poured out for Us
2. It represents a New Covenant
3. It must be drank in Faith

 III. Take communion in a worthy manner

 1. Willingness to rely on grace not greatness

 Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved.

 2. Willingness to come in confidence

 Ephesians 2:6-7 …and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

 3. Willingness to reconcile relationships

 Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good words, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

  5. What is in Peter’s near future and how is it tied to the argument of greatness? (31-32)
  6. Read 33-34. Describe Peter’s response to Jesus. How is Peter’s response connected to the earlier argument of greatness?
  7. Pray as the Lord leads.
